Insulation testers, sometimes known as megohmmeters, are the key tool in ensuring electrical safety. Designed to measure the electrical resistance between a live conductor and safety earth, sometimes known as insulation resistance, an insulation tester is a key tool when ensuring electrical safety.
The insulation test is carried out by applying a test voltage to the unit under test, typically ranging from 50V up to 1000V. This is automatically selected when the user selects the required resistance range.
