                      Product Overview

                      MAX3074EEPA+ is a 3.3V, ±15kV ESD-protected, RS-485/RS-422 transceiver that features one driver and one receiver. This device includes fail-safe circuitry, guaranteeing a logic-high receiver output when receiver inputs are open or shorted. The receiver outputs a logic-high if all transmitters on a terminated bus are disabled (high impedance). This device includes a hot-swap capability to eliminate false transitions on the bus during power-up or hot insertion. This transceiver draws 800μA of supply current when unloaded, or when fully loaded with the drivers disabled. This device has a 1/8-unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus. Applications include lighting systems, industrial control, telecom, security systems, and instrumentation.

                      • ±15kV human body model ESD on I/O pins, hot-swap input structure on DE and active-low RE
                      • True fail-safe receiver while maintaining EIA/TIA-485 compatibility
                      • Enhanced slew-rate-limiting facilitates error free data transmission
                      • Allows up to 256 transceivers on the bus
                      • Input hysteresis is 100mV typical at (DE, DI, active-low RE, TXP, RXP, H/active-low F)
                      • Supply current is 0.8mA typical at (no load, active-low RE = 0, DE = VCC)
                      • Supply current in shutdown mode is 0.05µA typical at (active-low RE = VCC, DE = GND)
                      • SRL input current is 75µA maximum at (SRL = VCC, TA = +25°C)
                      • Receiver input resistance is 96Kohm minimum at (-7V ≤ VCM ≤ 12V)
                      • Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, 8-lead plastic DIP package
